Day of the Maggots!

"Many households across Wyrew Forest have been hit by a plague of maggots as direct result of the combination of extremely hot weather and the reduction in wheelie bin collection from a weekly to a foretnightly service" local Liberal Councillors claimed today.

Cllr Mike Oborski said "We warned when the change was made - to accomodate weekly kerbside recycling coillections - that the change had the potential for disaster in extremely hot weather. That is why Liberals Councillors opposed the change over in its current form."

"With the extremely hot weather now the impact of the delay in leaving non-recycleable waste, particulary food waste, uncollected for two weeks has well and truly come home to roost."

"We are currently inundated with calls from residents struggling to cope with maggots and blubottles and, yes, we too are experiencing the problem at first hand!"

"It is impossible for the Council to change the system overnight but they must take a look at the situation again in the light of this awful experience. Once is b ad enough but it cannot be allowed to happen again!"

What to do...

Those good people at Wigley Do-It-All suggest that if, despite all your best endeavours, you have maggots in your wheelie bin the best thing is to clear our the content and clean the inside thoroughly with Jeyes fluid.

If that isn't an option then, wearing a suitable mask, lift out the top bag(s) from the bin. spray really heavily into the bin with RAID fly and wasp killer. Then scatter in a whole containerof JEYES Lemon Freshbin to deal with the smell. Replace the top bag(s) and, still wearing a mask, spray into the bin another heavy dose of RAID. Finally sprinkle in another half container of JEYES Lemon Freshbin.

Weavers cottages...
"Wyre Forest District Council has totally lost its grip on the Kidderminster Horsefair "Weavers Cottages" fiasco" Liberal Council Leaders warned today.

Liberal Group Leader Cllr Mike Oborski said today "Months ago we were told that the cottages were in danger of falling down. They were cordoned off and the adjacent footpath has been left in a potentially lethal condition with collapsed temporary barriers along a dangerous highway."

"Tonight, at full Council, we asked two very, very simple questions:-

- Firstly, why has this been allowedto drag on - to wshich there are apparently endless and utterely uncomprehensible reasons outside the Council's control, and,

- Secondly, when will this end - to which there is apparently no answer whatsoever!"

"Let's get it straight! No-one can tell us what is going to happen. No-one can tell us how much it will cost. No-one can tell us what will happen!"

"Meanwhile the building remains a death trap. Meanwhile the highway remains a death trap. Meanwhile the Tory administration don't give a damn!"

"We want an explanation! We want a public explanation. We want it now!"

Wheelie Bins!

Altogether now! The big flaw with fortnightly collection is... ...the smell! Despite our best endeavours ours is foul!

The Express & Star reports...

"Council bosses set for royal party"

and tells us...

"Wyre Forest district council bosses Paul Ryder and Keith Bannister have been invited to a royal garden party after clocking up 80 years srvice between them."

"Head of human resources Paul Ryder and head of finance KeithBannister will be attending the event later this month after being given a royal invite by Buckingham Palace."

"The exact details of where the garden party will be have not been revealed."

Actually for as long as anyone (except obviously the Express & Star) can remember Buckingham Palace Garden Paries have been held at - well, Buckingham Palace - which, strangely enough, explains why they are generally known as Buckingham House Garden Parties.
